An important milestone has been reached for the Tina E. Whidby Elementary School Renovation project in the Houston Independent School District. The reverse halo-lit signage has been installed and the screen wall tile for the new entry plaza and bus drop-off has been completed. We look forward to the finalized photos of the entire project!

Dallas Independent School District’s Woodrow Wilson High School opened for the 2013 spring semester with a new addition and a fresh renovation. Although the official grand opening will not occur until April, we thought we might share a few sneak peak pictures. We’ll be sure to give you the full photo tour once the grass greens up!
Last Wednesday, I had the honor of attending the ribbon cutting and ground breaking ceremony for the FWISD Polytechnic High School Garden. After receiving the $5000 grant last summer from The CEFPI North Texas Chapter IMPACT Award, it was exciting to see the student and faculty putting the money to use.
As the 20 or so students gathered to take pictures and share cookies in the courtyard, I was reminded how a simple garden and community project can do so much for the average teen today. Nice job CEFPI; great IMPACT on the community!

BRW recently attended this year’s TASA TASB convention held at the Austin Convention Center. The Texas Association of School Administrators and Texas Association of School Boards (TASA TASB) have been hosting this annual convention since 1960.
BRW was well represented by Lisa Lamkin, AIA , Jeff Choyce, AIA, Malia Nix, and Doug Hankins, Assoc. AIA. This dynamic team spent the convention meeting school administrators and school board members from across the state as well as while attending several seminar sessions. Listening to LaVar Burton speak Saturday morning was one of the highlights of the convention. BRW congratulates the Honor School Boards: Cedar Hill ISD, Klein ISD, Longview ISD, McAllen ISD, and Northwest ISD.
